September 1947 Shonan Toka Kogyo Co., Ltd. was established.
January 1949 The corporate name was changed to Yokohama Sugar Co., Ltd.
December 1953 The company’s stock was listed in the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
October 1961 The company’s stock was listed in the Osaka Securities Exchange.
November 1970 Three companies, Yokohama Sugar Co., Ltd., Shibaura Sugar Co., Ltd. and Osaka Sugar Co., Ltd. merged to establish a new company Mitsui Sugar Co., Ltd. (Major factories: Shibaura factory, Kawasaki factory and Okayama factory)
October 1983 The Kawasaki factory discontinued its production of refined white sugar. The Shibaura plant changed its name to Tobu factory.
November 1984 Launch of production and sales of a functional sweetener “palatinose.”
April 2001 Mitsui Sugar Co., Ltd. merged with Shin-Meito Co.Ltd., and changed its name to Shin Mitsui Sugar Co., Ltd. (Major factories: Tobu factory, Chiba factory and Okayama factory)
September 2002 The Tobu factory was closed.
October The production of Tobu factoryt was shifted to the Chiba factory.
April 2005 Shin Mitsui Sugar Co., Ltd. merged with Taito Co.,Ltd and KS Co.,Ltd. and changed its name to Mitsui Sugar Co., Ltd. (Major factories: Chiba factory, Kobe factory, Okayama factory and Fukuoka factory)
May 2009 The company marked its 50th anniversary since the birth of “Spoon Mark.”
March 2010 Launch of “Soft Brown Sugar” in ecologically-friendly packaging
